Green Building allows the planet room to breathe. By not cramming the landfills full of building product waste and by reducing the amount of natural resources needed to manufacture and transport materials, we make positive steps in the green build movement.

There are governing bodies that publish guidelines for Certification As a Leed Green Built Home. We are committed to this process and have the credentials to guide our clients in this effort, if that is their focus. (Leed Logo here)

At Moceri Design Build, we suggest sustainable materials for our clients to use in their homes and recycle every chance we get on the job site. Our home designs and building methods are superior in keeping with green building concepts even if we are not going
for certification.

Sustainable Living

On a larger scale, one of the most effective ways to "go green" and save substantially over time, is to consider a geo thermal system to heat and cool your new home. A 10,000 sq. ft. home we recently built with such a system has been calculated that it will cost the owners $1000 annually for heating and cooling. Yes, you read that correctly, $1000! (Picture)

Also worth considering are solar panels. They have come a long way in their design and can be incorporated on most roofing systems without being noticeable. Solar panels compliment the geo thermal system and bring up the efficiency of the entire HVAC system. (Picture)

When your home is on the drawing board, we discuss all possibilities of green building, energy conservation and other building components to consider so that they are incorporated into the plan at the critical stage?he beginning.

Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is not new at Moceri Design Build. Michael Moceri was the first builder in Michigan to include the Tuff N Dri basement wall waterproofing system as standard. Other firsts include Nelson Energy Seal & Icynene insulation products. Energy star appliances, quick recovery water tanks and 90+ + furnaces have been part of our quality construction for many years. All standard, all homes, all the time.
